Be Social  

Social media is just that- a social platform. Try to keep things personal. Allow your brand to have a human-like presence so as not to alienate your consumers (see what we did there). TOP TIPS: Post candid photos, live videos, and anecdotes alongside the scheduled content. Try to let your consumers see your brands sense of humor or creativeness. Or if that really goes against your brands grain perhaps try inspirational. 

Aim Small 

This might sound odd based on the purpose of this blog, but its true. You are better off having a small but engaged audience than a large unresponsive one. This means that they are more likely to engage with the content you publish, which will in turn have a positive impact on your page and mean that your content has a greater chance of being seen in their news feed. Quality over quantity.  

Choose the right tone 

Your posts need to be relatable to your target audience. There is no point in using tone and language that isn’t in-keeping with the people you are interacting with, it won’t be inclusive and is likely to be scrolled past.  

Keep it Interesting 

If every single thing you post is promotional or product based it can become really really, really boring. The unlike button is pretty easy to find, and people like to be entertained (who are we to stand in the way of giving the people what they want). You don’t have to go completely off- topic but related topic posts, stories, fun facts or images can help keep people interested.   

Only Once 

You would be forgiven for thinking that the more the merrier when considering how often to publish content throughout the day- the more there is the more people like it right? Wrong. Posting too often can come across as just pointless spamming or even desperate and in-fact is likely to annoy your audience. We suggest the optimum amount of times to post to Facebook is around 1 or 2 times in 24 hrs. Research suggests that the optimum time for posting is between 1 pm and 4 pm with the most amount of likes and shares being about 7 pm. The story feature is an excellent way to update consumer throughout the day without hijacking their news feed.    

Fight for your spot 

Ultimately you have to out-do your competition. What is it that makes you stand out from the rest? Uhuh, cool….SO GO TELL EVERYONE! Once you’ve found what you’ve got, by god just flaunt it. Remember where word count comes in, less is more here, so keep posts short and punchy. You aren’t trying to fit a blog all in one status. Research also suggests that posts with questions have higher engagement than those that don’t, so insightful questions can get your audiences cogs turning.  

Follow Objectives 

It doesn’t sound organic, but posts need to have an objective. Post links to get traffic to your website. Status updates should be aimed at getting comments, graphics should inspire and get likes, and videos need to be watched and enjoyed.  

Despite the ever-changing challenges that a business using Facebook there is no doubt that it continues to be a fantastic marketing tool. The number of businesses actively using Facebook continues to rise year after year. This said, the fight for news feed space is real and this means that content now needs to be more carefully considered than ever before. With a little bit of forward planning and some creativity, you can acquire the sort of community on Facebook that leads to high engagement and thus transpires to brand loyalty.
