I WON'T USE SOCIAL MEDIA FOR MY BUSINESS!

Updated: Jan 13, 2021

What we’re hearing is that you don’t want to market your business full- stop!  But don't just take our word for it:

  • 44% of local businesses said they DEPEND on social media to generate brand awareness, and 41 per cent depend on it to drive revenue.

  • Almost 90% of marketers say their social marketing efforts have increased exposure for their business and 75% say they’ve increased traffic.

  • Over 50% of marketers who have implemented social media marketing tactics for two years have seen improved sales.

  • Over a third of internet users say they go to social networks when looking for more information about a business.

Have we got your attention?   Want to know why i t works? TRUST AND CONSISTENCY   Having a strong social media presence encourages your audience to communicate with you and to buy from you.  Platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram give you an open mic so that you can display your knowledge of your industry and be seen as a trustworthy, competent business. Being exposed to regular content from your business in a non-spammy, conversational way helps you to look professional, trustworthy and current. Over time your audience will absorb your business’s message with ease, further cementing that trust and popularity.  BRAND LOYALTY  Once you have built your presence online, you can easily use your branding across all social media platforms. Ensuring continuity with your brands colours, logo and style is a key component to being recognizable. For example, the famous golden arches of McDonald's are recognized globally. Cadbury is easily spotted with their signature purple branding, or how about the bold green ASDA logo. They are memorable and that’s because they don’t change.  WEBSITE TRAFFIC  Social media can be used to promote your businesses website and onefeature that we love is that regular posting on Facebook will help your Google rankings! Whhaaatttt...?!?!  Yep, that's right! Your reviews on Facebook will eventually be displayed on your Google reviews as more people review and recommend your business. COST EFFECTIVE  Using social media is not an expensive way of marketing.  It's really not, even when managed by professionals like us at Purely Personal Marketing.  If you choose to manage your social media then it’s free. We recommend using the insight tools so you can see results and information about your marketing campaigns and have an instant understanding of your customer's reaction.   You can run competitions, participate in live interactions and easily keep information about your business relevant and interesting.   COMMUNICATION AND ACCESSIBILITY  Social media is such an easy way to engage directly with your customers. You can provide useful information and create interesting conversations to increase engagement. We highly advise you stay away from controversial and political topics so as not to cause confliction... keep that for your personal page.  Remember, any social media worth having is device friendly which has an enormous benefit for marketing. It means you can interact with your customers anytime, anywhere.  THE BITTER TRUTH... Even if you don’t like social media, your customers do, and so do your competitors. If you refuse to advertise on social media you allow competitors to be the direct communication with your customers and they will capitalise on your absence. If someone inquired about your product or services would you send them to another company? No, it sounds absurd, doesn’t it?! But essentially that is what you are doing by not having a presence on social media and by not engaging with them.  Still not convinced? Ok, let’s look at some cold hard facts;

  • 68% of Instagram users engage with brands regularly.

  • Instagram has 58 times more engagement per follower than Facebook

  • 50% of Instagrammers follow a business.

  • 60% of Instagrammers say that they learn about a product or service on the platform.

  • 75% of Instagrammers take action after being inspired by a post, like visiting a website, searching, shopping or telling a friend.

  • Almost 3/4 (73%) of active pinners—and 89% of daily pinners—have bought something new they discovered on Pinterest.

  • 5% of Pinners make a Pinterest-inspired purchase at least once a month.

  • 60% of active pinners are likely to search and browse on Pinterest than browse catalogues.

  • About half of the active pinners who have noticed promoted pins on Pinterest have clicked on them to get more information. More than 40% have made a purchase, suggesting promoted pins inspire future action.

  • 53% of users say they bought a product they first saw on Twitter.

  • 81% of users say that Twitter impacts their purchasing decisions more than TV.

  • 70% of small business followers re-tweet content.

  • Promoted tweets boost offline sales by 29%.

  • 72% of brand followers are likely to buy in the future.

So why is it popular? Because it works!  Ultimately, if you decide social media marketing isn’t for you, that’s fine.   We wish you the best of luck for reaching your customers by carrier pigeon.  If you do want to reach your customers and not send them to your competition, get in touch with our team who will be able to help, and if we can't help, then we'll point you in the direction of someone who can.
